Spooky...

This is my Ghost of Christmas yet to come practicing on his stilts... With the drywall stilts he is a little under 8 foot tall... He was a little wobbly at first but soon got things straightened out... By the time a week from tomorrow rolls around he'll be a pro...

He went around spooking different classrooms...

Getting a drink from the fountain was a humorous experience....

The explaination of my absence....

Just a small sample of what can be accomplished in a few days grading... This stack represents two nights of hard and rather dull work... It totally filled my inbox and I was very glad to be rid of it... lol... Paperwork and bulletin boards are the bane
of my existence... Other than that I love my job...
Between the picture above and the play that is consuming my spare thoughts and moments... Once Christmas is over I hope to once again be blogging about my thrilling (lol) life...

What a message

One of my students took me out to eat tonight... When we left Salem it was snowing a little... By the time we got to Panera Bread in Canfield it was pouring snow!! As we got out to the car after a delicious meal this interesting little message was on the car beside mine. We both found it very funny....

The Shepherd's Passing

Please pray for the Satterfield family and the Indiana church in this time of severe loss...

Rev. Satterfield was a wise man who is being mourned by so many... I don't have time to write everything I want to... The funeral was a beautiful testament to a well lived life. A life lived to the fullest for his God, his family, and those of us privileged to call him friend...

Hillbilly Rodeo

The following pictures may seem distorted... due to the time of day that they were taken... lol
Team Farmall isn't sure if they are ready for all of this hillbilly fun....
Susie and Ashley trying to stay warm by the fire....

Emily and Kayla posing for the snap shot... they didn't like the other picture I took ;-)

Our youth focus group got together Friday night for some excellent food, fellowship, and tons of fun...

After a campfire meal, we had a devotional on fear... very timely since it was night time and we had no clue what was planned for the next few hours.
We were split into two teams and the White tails and the Farmalls.... I was on the Farmall team... We were the team that didn't have all the couples on it... The first event was to see which team could husk and shell the most corn... The Farmalls won by one corncob... lol... However, our victory was short lived when we lost the next two events. . . . . . Pumpkin relay and haybale race. The haybale race involved rolling a round bale while someone was on top of it, without letting them fall off... it was very interesting.
Next they took us on a hayride, and after driving aimlessly we stopped and had a tug of war... Which the Farmalls won (not sure how) going uphill and downhill... After that we had to have a group sing 3 verses of Old MacDonald... and the judges had to decide who was the best... Sandy, Susie and I sang for the Farmalls, and we won.. It had to have been the motions that went with our version of the song... lol
The last event was bullriding... and Mark and Zack won for the Farmalls by 75 hundredths of a second..... wow what a ride.... The Farmalls won, but we all had fun... Which was the point...

Snow... It's finally here!!!

The three of us posing with the first snow man of the year....
Me, posing in my favorite weather condition.... Snow!!!!!

It was the beautiful fluffy flakes that were falling this morning...

Can you believe... Oct. 28 and the second day that it has snowed in Salem, Ohio!!!! My students were very distracted by the georgous display of the falling white stuff... so I allowed them a few moments outside to enjoy it while it lasted... As of the writing of this post the snow had already melted... :-(

So Back to the Ghetto Runner....

Ok, so you know that the bumper was ripped off my car, with virtually no damage to the human cargo driving the car, except maybe a totally shattered self esteem... But almost two weeks later, I walked out of the church on Saturday morning, to discover that my tire was flat!!!!

Thanks to the terrific help of Angel #1 My donut was put on... the tire was checked, but there didn't seem to be a problem... I took the tire to Wal-Mart, where I had purchased the tire less than a year before.... Oh there was nothing in the tire, they checked!!! Later that night after work, I came out to a very low tire :-( Being throughly disgusted and with nothing to do, being too late to do any thing, I went home....

Sunday morning it was as flat as a pancake.... A friend of mine, Angel #2 changed it from the regular tire to the donut (narrowly avoiding several bee stings in the process)... As if my ghetto runner hadn't produced enough stares :-( Now I had a donut.....

Needless to say I found a shop that could repair my tire and within one week I had my tire repaired, my bumper fix and even an old dent on the hood hammered out, well almost...

It feels like I have a new car!!!!!

Happy Mental Day!!!

This story sounded toooo much like what will happen later in my life!! lol!!!

The love story of Ralph and Edna...

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool. Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end.

He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.

Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.'

Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself; I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?'

Happy Mental Health Day!

I know I haven't posted in forever. And have tons to say cause life was really busy this last month... Let me explain the above picture... I was in an accident and that was the result... I'm fine, no broken bones, or any other problem except a missing bumper, which will get tons, I mean tons of stares!!! But never fear, the car is fixed :-) Finally... And let me tell you that I was jumping for joy when I saw the great job the auto body shop did...

Wow Wow Wow!!!! What a storm the pix I posted with this are just a few of the better shots from around Salem... The top picture is right across from Woodsdale Road.... Check out the power lines wrapped around the roots of the tree!! The power company is saying possibly three days before everybody has power again... School was cancelled this morning due to not having power... The winds picked up around 5 last night and didn't die down till almost midnight... I still don't have power at my appartment... And no city water... so no water... the college doesn't have power either... It's absolutely crazy around here....

School is in Full Swing

Wow, Wow, and Wow......

Is it really September? And has school really been in session for three weeks? Where does time go? Next thing you know I'll be blogging about graduation... Hopefully I will blog before that happens ;-)
Yes, school is well underway as you can tell from the top picture, my Math students have already taken their first Math test.... and they all did a great job... States/Capitals, Noah and the Ark, exclamatory sentences, and two different literatures to boot.... My school life holds a wide varitey of subjects... With miscellanous projects that my boss throws into the mix just to keep my life interesting.
Can't stay long, but I will be trying to get all kinds of pictures up of my students!!

What a Month

Who would have thought that July would be so jam packed with stuff.... since the last time I posted there has been VBS, a fishing trip, work, Youth Camp, work, work, work, calling for the church, jail services, work, College Summer Days, work, etc. And now I am gearing up for another week of busy-ness. AND SCHOOL STARTS IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!! I am a person who likes a set schedule so I will be glad when the schedule starts but.... August is going to be just as full of stuff as July was... where did summer go???

I know it sounds as if I am complaining but I would rather be busy and involved while I can, boredom drives me insane... ;-) It truly was wonderful to see the young people at CSD seeking God. Some of my students, and friends were among those seeking and that is encouraging to me!!

Miracles Do Happen!!!

Being a girl and not a mechanic.... the other day when my car started rattling, I really wanted to just turn the radio up and ignore the noise and the shaking... But being the brilliant person I am I promptly called my dad (Who claims that I only call him when I need to)... He told me a couple of things that it could be... All of the options were best case scenarios... So on Thursday I took my adorable little car to my friendly mechanic Bob... (Who appears very fierce, but is extremely kind) He told me that it was safe for me to drive till Friday when he could fix both of my struts!!!! Which would cost about 200 dollars :-( Being a teacher means that money is usually pretty tight during the summer... and this was not the news I wanted to hear.

So I drive very carefully all day Thursday, and very nervously this morning dropped off my car to Bob... He called me several hours later and told me that there was good news and bad news. Bad news was I had a tire with a broken belt, an extremely bad broken belt... but the good news was that my struts were fine... And they didn't need replaced!!!!! :-) My total cost was 25 dollars. Isn't God wonderful... He knows just what we need!!!

On top of all of this... Yesterday I was praying at work about what to do about my car... I told the Lord that he knew all about it and asked him to provide the money... My last table left me a ten dollar tip... which was about half of their bill.... Our God is a wonderful God!!!

Luke's Wedding

Luke got married last month. Since I didn't have my blog set up back then I'm posting late. Oh well. The day was beautiful and we spent some time as a family pulling together some last minute things (like the programs). It was when everyone was trying to get ready at one time that things got crazy. Then trying to get all of the girls ready in a rather small room, doing hair, tying bows, sweltering cause the AC wasn't working in that room. :-) Then smiling and smiling and turn and look at me and smile some more.... We all thought our faces were going to fall off...

I just recently got to look at the candid shots that the photographers did... And there is some definite comedy material. Some of the expressions that were caught for posterity are truly priceless... One photo that I aboslutely loved was the one that has Luke and Joanna kissing during the ceremony, with all of the siblings in the background looking seriously at the couple... It's great. There were some truly awesome pictures and it's great to remember. But I'm glad that I won't have to do it again any time soon...

I Can't Believe It!!!

For the record I never thought I would be a blogger.... Ever.... And for that matter we'll see how this thing goes... Eventually I will be putting pictures on this thing and Maybe even a picture of Me ;-) Those of you who know me well, will understand that comment. lol

The pix I have on my profile is the sunburnt version of me...
